"This photo was taken at Baltimore’s Miracle on 34th Street. Every year for Christmas, the residents of this block do up their houses in traditional Baltimore style—over the top, tacky (I can say that ‘cause I’m a Baltimorean myself, hon) and spectacular. I can only imagine the electric bill. As you can see in the foreground, this display attracts many visitors, and these homeowners let them traipse all over their yards, front porches, and sometimes even into their homes to explore every inch of this wonderland—the hubcap tree, the tree bedecked with natty boh and old bay cans, a re-created Whoville . . . the list goes on. It’s quite a site to see. My friends and I brave the cold and tourists to visit every year, it’s one of my favorite Christmas traditions."
